When we founded the Ford Family Foundation, our aim was clear: to back entrepreneurs who could turn ideas into action, not just in commercial terms, but in ways that truly matter to society. Over the past year, Ignite has become a key part of that mission. We’ve seen first-hand how catalytic capital, coupled with belief and mentoring, can unlock extraordinary outcomes.

I’ve had the privilege of working in corporate finance for decades. After selling my own business, I promised myself I would use that success to help others build ventures that serve their communities. We’ve now supported everything from AI in healthcare to digital work for refugees and I’m more convinced than ever that supporting early-stage social enterprises is one of the most effective ways to drive scalable, lasting impact.

Through Ignite, we’re investing in founders who are tackling the root causes of inequality, exclusion, and environmental damage. We back both for-profit and not-for-profit ventures because what matters most is purpose, and the courage to build something that changes lives.

Ignite is just getting started. I believe this programme can grow into something special in the years to come.
